Dance Bangga: The Path of Dance, Series II
Muyong(่่ธ): Between Movement and Meaninglessness
Presented by Dance Origin, this performance delves into the dual meanings embedded in the Korean word "Muyong." On one hand, Muyong (่่ธ) refers to the act of dancing; on the other, Muyong (็ก็จ) signifies uselessness. In modern society, art is often considered non-essential to survival, and its value can easily be overlooked. Through this performance, we aim to reaffirm the preciousness and significance of dance, even in difficult times.
At the heart of this work is choreographer Yoon Se-hee, whose signature style blends the deep roots of traditional Korean dance with a refined sense of Eastern aesthetics. With each performance, she presents a fresh perspective on beauty and movement. Korean traditional dance is not only a cultural heritage but also a meaningful art form that embodies profound philosophical insights and inspires hope and dreams in our lives.
This performance seeks to reawaken in today's audiences the true value and meaning of art—a reminder that dance, far from being "useless," is a deeply useful and vital expression of the human spirit.
